RALEIGH - Downtown Raleigh residents who have seen strange circling lights in the night sky in recent nights that seem to resemble a squadron of UFO's have no need to fear.

The lights were actually from a multiple lens spotlight that has been used at a local nightspot called the Lincoln Theatre, which is located downtown near the intersection of Blount and Cabarrus Streets.

The spotlight was used recently to draw attention to the theatre, which hosts both local bands and national acts for Raleigh music lovers.

When clouds are low, the four lens spotlight beams show up in the night sky as round objects floating around in a circle, giving some pause as they saw what looked like unidentified flying objects in the sky.  The beams circle around and then come together before beginning the cycle again.

Although not as mysterious as a UFO, some band members that we spoke with outside of the theatre as they entered their tour bus certainly didn't seem to mind the extra attention. ::
