DURHAM - Durham Police say they have charged a Durham woman with stabbing a friend and she was apprehended after she jumped out of a second story window to try and elude police.
Last week, Durham police announced that had arrested Connie Mincey Troutner, age 41, of Salem Street in Durham and charged her with murder in stabbing death of David Clifford Cates earlier this month on Park Avenue.
Police say that Troutner was arrested by homicide investigators after she jumped out of a second-story window at the Howard Johnson Inn on Hillandale Road in Durham.
According to police, the case was first discovered when officers were dispatched to a cardiac arrest call at a boarding house at 809 Park Avenue in Durham around 2:30p on March 2nd.
Police say that when they arrived, they found Cates dead in his room and that they believe Cates was killed two or three days earlier.
Cates had been stabbed several times say police and investigators believe the motive was robbery. Cates and Troutner were acquaintances and investigators believe that more than one person was involved.
Police say that the investigation is still continuing and that anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Sgt. J.N. Cates or Investigator A. Gill at 560-4440 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers do not have to identify themselves. ::
