RALEIGH - The NC Lottery says that a North Carolina man who won $100,000 in a scratch off game played an April Fool's joke on his brother.

Lottery officials say that Musa Dughmush of Rocky Mount visited the lottery's headquarters this week with his brother to collect the prize he won playing a new NASCAR Themed scratch-off ticket, which just was was introduced last Tuesday.

Dughmush purchased the ticket at JMS Food Mart on North Raleigh Street in Rocky Mount on Saturday.

According to lottery officials, he decided to tell his brother about his winning ticket on Sunday April 1st to play a joke on him.  Of course, he did not believe him, but after realizing it wasn't a joke, the two brothers started hugging, he told the NC Lottery. 

Lottery officials say that Dughmush has not yet announced any plans for his winnings.

$100,000 Winners

According to the lottery, a Sampson County woman became the second player from Newton Grove in recent weeks to claim a $100,000 prize. Linda Oates also visited the lottery's headquarters this week with her family to claim the prize she won on the instant scratch-off ticket "Carolina Hurricanes" game.

Oates said that she purchased her ticket at the A-B Circle Mart on Clinton Street in Newton Grove and discovered she had won the top prize Saturday.

"I was so excited," she said. "I had to take it back to the store for them to look at it. The clerk put his head down on the counter and said, 'you've won a lot of money'."

Oates told the lottery that she plans to help her daughter with her college expenses and pay bills with her winnings.

Jhoni Pacheco of Hyattsville, Maryland also won $100,000 playing a scratch off ticket.  Pacheco told the lottery that he and two of his friends purchased the ticket at Run In on Milton Road in Charlotte and they will take a trip with some of the money.

The lottery says the top prize in "Carolina Cash 5'" for tonight's drawing is worth an estimated $251,000. 

In the past four days, "Carolina Cash 5" players have won a total of $136,784 in prizes and "Carolina Pick 3" players have won a total of $546,140. Instant scratch-off ticket players have won nearly $3 million in prizes, says the lottery. ::
