RALEIGH - North Carolina Governor Mike Easley today ordered all North Carolina state flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of the tragic shootings on Monday at Virginia Tech University.

In addition, all United States office flags will be flown at half-staff at state buildings as well, said the Governor's office.

"We join those in Virginia and around the nation who mourn the loss of loved ones at Virginia Tech," said Easley in a press statement.  "Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who are suffering because of this senseless act of violence."

The Governor's office said that flags in North Carolina will be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, April 22nd. ::
