RALEIGH - Raleigh Police say that they have arrested a man who used a pickup truck to yank an ATM machine from a Bonjangles chicken restaurant in Raleigh.
At approximately 1:45am last Wednesday morning, the Raleigh Police Department says that officers responded to the Bojangles at 3301 S. Wilmington Street in Raleigh. When they arrived they found that someone had broken into the business and stolen an ATM machine.
Police say that a review of surveillance photos from the restaurant showed that a man in an older Dodge truck had backed up to the business, smashed the window, wrapped a chain around the ATM machine, and used the truck to pull the machine from the building. Police say the ATM was then taken from the scene in the bed of the truck.
After circulating in the media the suspect's picture taken from inside of the restaurant by surveillance cameras, police say they identified a suspect in the case.
"News coverage of the surveillance photos from the crime scene led to the identification of the suspect," said Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
On Friday, the Raleigh Police Department said they obtained warrants charging Robert
Blake Strother, age 19, with the theft of the ATM machine and that they recovered the truck Strother was driving during the crime
Police say the investigation of the case is
