RALEIGH - North Carolina Lottery officials hope that a new raffle being launched on Friday with a possible $1 million payout will be a big hit.
Starting Friday at 5am players will be able to purchase tickets for the "Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle."
According to lottery officials, the raffle will give North Carolina lottery players the best chances of winning $1 million out of all of their games.
The NC lottery says it will only offer 500,000 of the "Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle" tickets for sale and once they sell out, that's it.
The odds of winning one of the top prizes of $1 million are 1 in 125,000. There will be four $1 million prizes and a total of 509 prizes including smaller prizes of $1000 and $100,000.
Players in the raffle have a one in 1000 chance of winning at least $1000.
To play is pretty simple -- players do not choose their numbers for this game and there are no play slips and all numbers are computer generated.
Players just need to tell the retail salesperson that they would like to purchase a raffle ticket, which are priced at $20 each.
To promote the new game, a television commercial for the "Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle" will be broadcast on TV starting on Friday as well.
The commercial was filmed at Kure Beach near the Kure Beach pier and included around 40 extras who are all from the Wilmington area, says the lottery.
The NCEL has tentatively scheduled the "Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle" drawing for July 4th and the winning numbers for the "Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle" tickets will be posted on the NCEL Web site immediately after the drawing.
