::Durham Police Make Another Heroin Arrest

From Raleigh Chronicle Staff And Wire Reports
Thursday, May 24, 2007

DURHAM - Durham Police made the second black tar heroin arrest in two weeks.

Durham police say they arrested six people on various drug trafficking charges on Tuesday and confiscated drugs worth almost $50,000.

On Tuesday evening Durham Police say that investigators arrested three people on heroin trafficking charges in a parking lot in the 6900 block of Fayetteville Road. Investigators say that during the bust, they confiscated more than nine ounces of black tar heroin, worth almost $40,000.

Investigators charged three suspects in that incident including Osiel Mendoza-Pineda, age 20, of Lawrenceville, GA, Angel Garcia Bedolla, age 28, of Lillington and Marsial Roque, age 22, of Sanford with trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver. The bond for each man was set at $2 million, say Durham Police.

The heroin arrest is the second in two weeks.  Durham says that an officer seized more than 5.65 pounds of black tar heroin from three men in the parking lot of the Exxon convenience store at NC Highway 54 and Fayetteville Road in Durham near the Streets At Southpoint Mall on May 17th.

In addition to the heroin arrest, Durham Police say that Officer J.J. McDonough of the ICE (Interstate Criminal Enforcement) Team stopped a vehicle on Interstate 85 near East Club Boulevard on Tuesday and made an arrest and seizure in that case.

According to police reports, Officer McDonough found 410 grams of cocaine, worth approximately $10,000, and a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.

In that traffic stop, the Durham Police  arrested three suspects including Kwambi A. Ford, age 29, of Lithonia, GA, Timothy A. Washington, age 29, of Liverpool, NY, and Brittany Marshal, age 21, of Baltimore, MD, and charged them each with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, maintaining a vehicle for the transport of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say that Ford was also charged with possession of marijuana.  ::
