RALEIGH -- In the hopes of generating leads, the Raleigh Police Department is circulating a surveillance photo of a donut shop robbery suspect who held a gun against employees before taking off with money.
Raleigh Police say that at approximately 9pm on Wednesday May 23rd, the unknown suspect entered the Dunkin' Donuts store at 3209 S. Wilmington Street in Raleigh.
Police say that two employees were in the store at the time.
"Brandishing a handgun, the suspect jumped over the counter, robbed the store and
fled on foot," said Jim Sughrue of the Raleigh Police Department in a released statement.
It is apparent from the surveillance photos that the suspect held the gun up against at least one employee. The gun looks to be a small caliber revolver, based on surveillance photos.
Police say the suspect was wearing a distinctive blue cap with a white emblem on
the front and white lettering on the back and the cap is clearly visible in the photos from the Dunkin' Donuts camera.
In one photo, the blue cap looks like it has a white eagle on the front with a red outline.
The suspect is described as a black male
in his twenties who stands about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches tall and weighs 155-160 pounds.
Police say his clothing included a long, short-sleeved white shirt, black jeans that were rolled up at the bottom and black sneakers.
Anyone with information that might assist the investigation is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at 919-890-3555 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 226-CRIME. Callers do not have to reveal their identities. ::
