RALEIGH -- Leadership Raleigh, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce's leadership development program, has annouced its graduates of the 2006-2007 class.

According to the Raleigh Chamber, the graduates worked in eight project teams assisting community non-profit organizations including The First Tee of Wake County, Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, Triangle United Way , Prison MATCH of North Carolina , SAFEchild, The Carying Place, Boys and Girls Club of Wake County, Inc., and April's Angels.
The Leadership Raleigh Distinguished Leader of the Year, selected by the class as a standout leader in the community, is Thomas Gipson of Thomas Gipson Homes, Inc.
Leadership Raleigh is a nine-month program consisting of eight one-day sessions held in the Triangle area with a weekend retreats. The three overall components to the program are team projects, community orientation, and enhancing leadership skills/styles.
The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce describes itself as the Triangle's largest non-profit business membership organization made up of over 2,800 member firms representing 70 percent of the private sector employment in Wake County . The Chamber has been representing the interests of the local business community since 1887. ::
