RALEIGH - Evidently, the lure of a sure win and higher winning percentages gave a lot of North Carolina lottery players the incentive to fork over $20 for a lottery ticket.
Unlike the multi-state Powerball lottery, with the new Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle, it's guaranteed that at least four ticket holders will win a million dollars. And as a result, NC Lottery officials say the game has officially sold out of its limited number of tickets.
The lottery sold its 500,000th ticket (and last one) for the Sizzlin' Millionaire Raffle game at 7:15pm on June 30th, making it one of the most successful North Carolina Lottery games so far.
When the drawing is held on July 4th, there will be four $1 million prizes (with a chance of winning being 1 in 125,000.) There also will be five prizes of $100,000 and 500 prizes of $1,000.
Lottery officials say that all 509 of the winning numbers will be posted at approximately 4pm on July 4th on the NCEL official Web site at nc-educationlottery.org.
Although the actual drawings will be held at 1pm at the Raleigh Lottery headquarters, the external auditor must verify the winning numbers before they can be posted, says the lottery.
During their evening and nightly newscasts at 11pm on July 4th, the following television stations will show the winning numbers for the $1 million winning tickets and the $100,000 winning tickets:
--WRAL-TV ( Raleigh )
--WITN-TV ( Greenville )
--WCNC -TV (Charlotte)
--WILM-TV ( Wilmington )
--WYCW-TV ( Western NC )
Lottery officials say they sold out of tickets about four days earlier than they had planned. ::
