RALEIGH - Raleigh Police say that a woman was killed on Friday night during a home invasion in Raleigh.

Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said that around 10pm Friday night, Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a shooting call at 4105-E Spring Forest Road in Raleigh.

Police say that the victim, Charmeka Cheymeir Harris, age 25, was found to be shot in the abdomen when officers arrived. The victim was transported to WakeMed where she subsequently died.

"The investigation of the case has determined that the homicide occurred during a home invasion robbery," commented Jim Sughrue of the Raleigh Police Department.

According to Sughrue, a total of ten people including five adults and five children were in the apartment when "multiple masked suspects" with guns burst into the apartment.  The suspects took money and jewelry from the victims.

Sughrue seemed to indicate that the suspects may have known their victims before the crime took place.

"Based upon investigative findings, this crime does not appear to have been a random act of violence," commented Sughrue.

Police say that a reward is offered for information that materially assists the investigation of the case.
