::Cary Man Arrested In Death Of Infant Son

By Richard Saunders, The Raleigh Chronicle
Friday, August 24, 2007

CARY - Cary Police said they arrested a Cary father of a young child today in what police described as the "suspicious death" of his son.

Diontay Deshone Williams, age 24, of 1307 Castalia Drive in Cary was arrested and charged with murder in the death of his seven-month old infant son, say police.

On August 22, 2007, shortly after 6pm, Cary Police, Fire and EMS say they responded to a call from the Williams' home saying that the child was in distress.  The child was later transported to Western Wake Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police did not disclose the injuries or how they believe Williams contributed to the child's death.

"This is a terrible tragedy, not just for the family, but for our entire community," said Major Tony Godwin in a statement to the press on Friday.

Cary Police say that this homicide marks the first murder in Cary this year; the most recent one occurred in October 2006. ::
