RALEIGH - The NC State Fair will begin offering discounted tickets to those who purchase them online, starting September 4th. Also, those wishing to purchase concert tickets for American Idol stars Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, and Ruben Studdard at the fair will need to purchase them online as well.
The tickets will be sold on the NC State Fair's website at www.ncstatefair.org and the tickets in advance will be sold through October 11th, say NC Department of Agriculture officials.
The State Fair runs from October 12-21 at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh just off of Blue Ridge Road next to the RBC Center.
The NC State Fair says that those buying online tickets with a debit or credit card will save $2 per adult admission ticket and $8 per ride sheet, but there will be a convenience fee, ranging from 5 to 15 percent for online purchases, depending on the type of ticket.
Advance admission tickets will cost $5 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-12.
Adult admission tickets for groups of 40 or more will cost only $4.75.
A coupon that can be redeemed at the State Fair for a sheet of 24 ride tickets will cost $10 in advance.
The fair says that the Raleigh-based ETix company will again provide online tickets that can be printed at home.
Each ticket will have a bar code to be scanned at the gate and if fairgoers lose their tickets prior to attending the fair, they can reprint their tickets at home using a confirmation number that will be e-mailed to them.
However, once a bar code has been scanned at the gate, all subsequent copies will be invalid, says the NC State Fair.
Tickets for shows from famous stars such as NC's own Daughtry with Day of Fire and Kellie Pickler, as well as Ruben Studdard, Trace Adkins, Curtis Chapman, and others will also be on sale at that time.
Other acts at the fair this year include MercyMe, Paula Deen, Sara Evans, Anthony Hamilton, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Josh Turner.
Fairgoers will be able to buy tickets at the North Dorton Box Office during the Fair for any concerts that do not sell out beforehand.
Tractor pull and Demolition Derby tickets can also be purchased in advance on the Web.
Beginning September 27, advance tickets also will be sold at several walk-up locations, including Triangle and Piedmont area malls and the State Farmers Market.
